parkerkrhoytposted a video:On this last day of our annual family retreat to Breckenridge, it finally started to snow. And given the warmer conditions earlier, it was a slick snow too. Grandma and grandpa had flown in on Thanksgiving when everything was closed, so despite the cold and snow and ice, we headed to downtown Breckenridge on the shuttle. The shuttle driver told us that there'd be a delay in pickups since one of the buses had to go into the shop, so the first stop was the Breckenridge information center for the public transit schedule. While we were there Marna asked about sleigh rides, but since there wasn't much snow up to this point, the local ones hadn't yet opened. There was one in Frisco however, so we decided to try for that. For a while the phone calls ended in voicemail.While downtown we also stopped at Eric'sfor lunch. Eric's is a hard place to describe. It's part college bar, part ski bum pit stop, part pizza joint. The food never disappoints, and there's an arcade as well which Paige and I enjoyed while waiting to be seated. After Eric's we stopped for cookies and then to pick up some odds and ends winter clothes. We kept trying to call the sleigh ride company, but still got voicemail.While at the information center, there was some information about the Barney Ford houseacross the street. I'd seen this museum house before, but never went inside, or cared to dig any deeper on who Barney Ford was. This trip however we stopped for the tour. The story of Mr. Ford and his life is actually very interesting. He's made a significant impact on the front range, and you'd never know all the connections unless you knew about his role. Highly recommended way to spend thirty minutes to an hour.After the museum, we finally got threw to the sleigh ride company. Just five slots left on the 5 PM dinner and ride, and we booked it! We took the Breckenridge Free Rideback to the resort for a quick nap, and then bundled up for the evening's activities. It was still snowing, and the roads were pretty icy. Thanks to a clever call by Marna, we left early enough to arrive on schedule at the Frisco Nordic Center.The sleigh ride is how this event starts. We had three sleighs for about forty (40) folks. The drivers were informative, welcoming, and hospitable, complete with fur blankets to keep us warm during the trip. About fifteen minutes later we arrived at a set of tents for dinner and entertainment. The food was great! A little while later, the fifteen minute ride back to the parking lot.I'd ramble on about this excursion, but I've already gone on too long. The bottom line is that if you're looking for a great evening sleigh ride, you really won't beat the folks at Two Below Zero. After the event, we made our way back to the resort, and called it a night. Tomorrow we pack up and head back down the mountain to home. We also have Christmas pictures scheduled in the afternoon.
